I am riding the canyon starting at 0900.
Fellow Velos: Anyone want to ride one lap of the Merco Foothills RR course tomorrow? I plan to DRIVE out to Monte Vista and Montpellier and ride from there to keep it around 30 total miles, MODERATE pace. I rode part of it last week, that is, the part with the best pavement. Meet at 10:00 AM. –Mark Holmes

Weather looks better for Sat than Sun this weekend. Any plans? Canyon to County Line or Store or Merced Falls? 8or 9 am?
Fellow Velos: Matt Gregory went down tonight heading through turn 3 and almost under an approaching car. Matt’s quick reflexes and good bike handling skills prevented a calamity. With a big patch of road rash on his right side, he gets back on his bike and says, “I’m OK… Let’s go” and off we went for our final laps. What a stud!
THE WEEDS in the empty lots have grown up to 4 feet tall or more, which block the view of oncoming traffic through the corners. There were only four of us in this group and none of us saw the car coming until we were beginning our turn. We need corn chopper, a harvester or a field mower to take down those weeds! Mark Holmes
What a surprise Johny D, Paul, and myself had today! The temp was perfect when we left Waterford for 108 at Noon today. Wind was no problem and everyone must have been feeling good. We returned with a 19.8 average. What a nice surprise—Way to go boys!

Gerry: Yesterday’s recon ride helped. I rode the 45+ 1-4 category… I stayed in the group all the way around our two laps at 25+ average speed. I’m calling it a “pack finish” albeit “back of the pack”. Satisfactory race for me. –MarkH
