I visited Sanford this evening. He’s walking around without walker, and has his voice back! Sanford seemed to have given much thought in his decision to quit riding. He said that the thing he will miss the most is the company of his fellow riders through cycling. One may say that life is not fair and pout…but, he chooses to rejoice his recovering health, and is determined to enjoy it though without cycling. I respect his decision, and thank him for the years of fabulous riding together. I look forward to hiking with you, and discovering places only you can introduce me to.

I’m not into backpacking, but my wife and I both love hiking. We met doing half-dome. Sarge also loves to hike. We could get together a couple times a year and go.

Nuts.
Anyway I have found our hiking buddy.
BigDog
BigDog is suppose to have sensors that warn you of dangers as well. Probably not allowed in the wilderness.

There’s lots of great day hikes nearby too. Sonora Pass, Tioga Pass. Climb some big mountains and get the same endorphine rush as cycling, Dana, Conness, Levitt, Stanislaus, Sonora, Gibbs; 13,000ft+, all day hikes. Did I mention trail running…anyone?
